Don’t ask if PS4 support Blu-ray again. It does. If you can’t play Blu-ray discs, check the disc if it is broken. If don’t, it is likely to be the Blu-ray region codes issue. When your Blu-ray discs are sold in a different region from where the PS4 was manufactured, your PS4 won’t read your Blu-ray discs. In this situation, many people choose to rip Blu-ray to external hard drive then stream Blu-ray to PS4 via USB port. But actually, you can stream your Blu-ray backups/rips from PC to PS4 directly.
Sony added a long-awaited Media Player app to their PlaySation 4 console, which allows us to stream media from our PCs without the hassle. It was a pretty awesome feature, enabling your PC to talk to your home console under DLNA connection. Still don’t know how to accomplish it? Follow the steps below to make a communication between your PC and PS4.
Now, let’s begin with rip Blu-ray to hard drive for PS4. If you have backed up Blu-ray to PC, you can jump to the second part.
Part 1: Rip Region A, B, C Blu-ray to Hard Drive for PS4
Step 1: Download and install Pavtube ByteCopy on windows PC or Pavtube ByteCopy for Mac on Mac to help you remove Blu-ray region codes and other encryption and save the content to PS4 supported format without any quality loss.
Step 2: Select “Load from disc” from the “File” menu drop-down list to add Blu-ray movies to the program. Click the drop-down list of Subtitles, then all the subtitles info in the Blu-ray will be shown clearly, so you can select your needed language as your subtitles freely.
Step 3: From “Format” drop-down list, go to choose “PSP/PS3″ > “PS3 Video(1080P) MPEG-4 (*.mp4)” as the final output file format for playing on PS4.
Step 4: When all the settings is done, go back to the main interface and carry out the conversion by hitting right-bottom convert button. When the conversion is finished, click the “Open” icon on the main interface to pop out the converted files.
Part 2: Stream Blu-ray Backups/Rips from PC to PS4
Step 1: Download the Plex media app center from the official website. Install the app. Run the app. Setup an account.
Step 2: Once you’re logged into Plex, begin adding the Blu-ray rips that you want streamed from your PC to your PS4, including movies and videos of various file types. Make sure that names are properly configured. We suggests using the XBMC standard naming convention.
Step 5: When typed your IP address into the browser address on your PS4, it should look something like this, for example: 192.168.1.101: 3200/web. It should bring you to your Plex app with your media loaded up and ready to be played.
To stream Blu-ray rips from PC to PS3 without any hassle, you/d better following firmware update 1.70, you may need to modify the settings for AAC audio. You’ll find it in settings, under web, then player and then show advanced.
