For Google Pixel owners who have a sizeable collection of Blu-ray disc gathering dust, you might want to consider digitizing those bad boys so you can watch them on your phone anywhere, anytime. While you might not yet know how to rip a Blu-ray, the process isn’t complicated if you’re comfortable with some basic software, but we’ll guide you through the process, just to make it as simple as possible.

What you will need to rip a Blu-ray for Google Pixel?

– Your Blu-ray(s)
– A Blu-ray disc drive on your computer – You won’t be ripping anything with one. If your computer lacks the proper disc drive, an external good Blu-ray drive can be purchased for as little as $25
– Enough storage on a hard drive to save the ripped files. A Blu-ray will make a huge file, so we recommend you have between 30 to 60 GB or free hard drive space if you’re looking to rip one
– A program to rip the Blu-ray disc. Here, we will use Pavtube ByteCopy in this guide, which is available on both PC and Mac computer (get Mac version).

How to Rip a Blu-ray with Pavtube ByteCopy

First, download and install Pavtube ByteCopy, then open the application. Insert your Blu-ray disc into the drive. The program will start to scan your Blu-ray disc, when the scanning process is completed, all the Blu-ray disc information including title name, duration, trimmed length, destination file will be displayed on the main interface.

Tips: This process will automatically remove all the DVD copy protection including Region code, RCE, key2Audio, UOP, CSS, Macrovision, FluxDVD, Protect, ARccOS, AACS, BD+, ROM Mark, BD-Live, etc. in the backaground. In addition, it will also detect and check the main Blu-ray title (usually the longest title or biggest file) and uncheck all the other boxes.

Select desired subtitle or audio tracks to rip

On the bottom of the main interface, you can select your desired subtitle language or audio tracks from the original Blu-ray disc to rip from. In addition, you can also select the “Forced subtitles” option to to disable the traditional subtitles while still preserving the subtitles that translate foreign language speaking parts periodically throughout the film to help you understand what they are saying. If the foreign language Blu-ray movie does not contain any language subtitles you understand, you can download a SRT subtitle file in your first language of the Blu-ray movie from a safe and reliable subtitle download site (such as opensubtitles.org) and add subtitles to Blu-ray movies.

Here, to play Blu-ray movies on Google Pixel, you can choose to convert Blu-ray movies to Google Pixel readable MP4 file formats with H.264 video compression codec and MP3 or AAC audio codec. To get the best output video and audio quality, you can also flexibly adjust output profile parameters including video codec, resolution, bit rate, frame rate and audio codec, bit rate, sample rate and channels, etc to get the best output video and audio quality.

After all settings is done, specify an output folder on your computer to save and store the ripped files. Then hit the right-bottom conversion button on the main interface to begin Blu-ray to Google Pixel ripping process. This process can take anywhere from 2 minutes to half an hour depending on your computer’s specs and the size of the file, when it’s done, you should have a nice optimized H.264 file waiting in the specified folder.
